Valentines biscuits...



I’m back at home with my parents and there’s visitors here all the time so my mum asked me to bake up some seasonal treats. Valentines is fast approaching so I thought I’d do some dipped chocolate butter biscuits! So quick and easy, and a great Valentines gift! Heres the recipe:
  • 100g margarine or butter
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk 
  • Drop of vanilla extract
  • 300g plain flour
  • (Optional) Dark chocolate for decorating
Preheat the oven to gas mark 5.
Start by creaming the butter and the sugar.
Add the yolk and the vanilla extract and whisk.
Fold in the flour until a soft dough is formed. 
Turn out on to a floured work surface and roll out to 1cm thick. 
Cut out your biscuits, I used hearts but you can use your imagination!
Using a flat knife, pop them on a baking sheet covered with grease proof paper. 
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until slightly golden. Don’t worry if they still feel a little soft, they’ll harden when left to cool. 
Leave to cool on a wire rack. 
Once cool, cover a chopping board in grease proof paper and melt some dark chocolate. 
Dip half your biscuits in and place on the board. 
Leave to set for a couple of hours and voila!
